The mechanical properties of 20MnV steel are as follows: tensile strength 785 MPa, yield strength 590 MPa, elongation after fracture 10%, reduction of area 40%, impact absorption energy 55 J. ABS F36 hull steel plate, 20MnV steel has good properties, good strength, toughness and plasticity, good hardenability and machinability. After carburizing, 20MnV steel can be directly quenched without secondary quenching to improve the core structure. The weldability of 20MnV steel is good, but there is temper brittleness at 300-360 ℃ during heat treatment.

There is an inherent difference between the cold forming properties of low-alloy high-strength steel and carbon structural steel. First of all, a certain amount of permanent deformation of low-alloy high-strength steel requires greater force than ABS F36 hull steel plate, carbon structural steel of the same size. Second, when low-alloy high-strength steel is formed, a slightly larger allowable amount for springback should be given. According to experience, unless the low-alloy high-strength steel is processed to control the shape of inclusions, it is necessary to use a larger bending radius than carbon structural steel during cold forming.
