45# steel is a common medium carbon quenched and tempered structural steel. The cold plasticity of 45# steel is general. Annealing and normalizing are slightly better than GL-E hot-rolled plates quenching and tempering. 45# steel has higher strength and better machinability. After proper heat treatment, 45# steel can obtain certain toughness, plasticity and wear resistance. 45# steel is suitable for hydrogen welding and argon arc welding, not suitable for gas welding.

The GL-E hot-rolled plates steel making furnace can only be used as primary refining, and the refining needs to be completed in the refining equipment outside the furnace, which is also called secondary refining. It is mainly through decarburization, desulfuration, denitrification and dephosphorization to improve the cleanness of the steel, to establish a chromium molybdenum low alloy steel with good oxidation resistance and high temperature strength, to remove unwanted harmful impurities from the steel, and to improve the GL-E hot-rolled plates internal quality of the steel.

A small amount of Nb is sufficient to obtain excellent comprehensive properties of GL-E hot-rolled plates etc. steel material, because at low Nb concentration, the yield strength of steel material increases faster and is proportional to the concentration, but when the Nb content is greater than 0.03%, the strengthening effect begins to decrease. Studies have shown that when the Nb content is greater than 0.06%, excess Nb will no longer strengthen the steel material.
