LNG ships are called "super-refrigerated vehicles on the sea", and their service environment is at a very low temperature of minus 163 degrees Celsius. This requires that the steel for LNG storage tanks must have low temperature resistance, often using Invar steel or 9Ni steel. At present, a complete series of nickel steels such as 0.5Ni steel, 2.5Ni steel, 3.5Ni steel, 5Ni steel, and 9Ni steel have been formed in the field of low-temperature steel. China has also developed relatively mature 3.5Ni steel and 5Ni steel. And 9Ni steel, and successfully used in the construction of low-temperature transport ships.

Crude steel production in the EU region in the first quarter was 38.3 million tons, down 10.0% year on year. The output of crude steel in North America in the first quarter was 29.5 million tons, down 4.0% year on year.

The addition of Ca element in steel such as RINA grade B corrugated bulkhead steel can refine grain size, partly desulphurize and change the composition, quantity and morphology of non-metallic inclusions. It is similar to that of adding rare earth in steel. It can improve the corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high temperature and low temperature resistance of steel, improve the impact toughness, fatigue strength, plasticity and welding performance of the steel, and increase the cold heading, shock resistance, hardness and contact endurance strength of the steel.
