Tempering includes high temperature tempering, medium temperature tempering and low temperature tempering. Tempering means to reheat the ABS D36 offshore structural steel quenched steel to a certain temperature and then cool it in a certain way. Tempering can reduce or eliminate the internal stress produced by quenching, reduce the hardness and strength, and improve the ductility or toughness of steel. After ABS D36 offshore structural steel quenching, the workpiece should be tempered in time, and the required mechanical properties can be obtained through the combination of quenching and tempering.

Chromium element (Cr element) can improve the strength and hardness of ABS D36 offshore structural steel, carbon steel in rolling state, reduce elongation and area reduction. When the chromium content is more than 15%, the strength and hardness will decrease, while the elongation and reduction of area will increase correspondingly. It is easy to obtain high surface processing quality for steel parts containing chromium after grinding. The main function of chromium element (Cr element) in quenched and tempered steel structure is to improve hardenability, so that the steel has better comprehensive mechanical properties after quenching and tempering.
